"CAPRICE" duo for light and violin
Fêtes des Lumières de Lyon
From 8 to 10/12/2016, Swimming pool of the Rhone. With the support of CNR.
Like the virtuosity of Paganini's compositions, Sébastien Lefèvre mounted a gigantic work in an emblematic site in the city of Lyon.
The installation offers a new night vision of the banks by transforming the 4 masts of the pool along the Rhone into monumental light vortices, it marks as a signal the left bank of the river.
The work has the name of Caprice Number 24 of Paganini. It is a composition that is both virtuoso, minimalist and mainstream. The musical field of the violin solo lends itself to the minimalist expression palette of the installation: A string of violin for a string of light, the virtuosity of the violinist in phase with the virtuosity of the luminous effects.
Caprice is 4 nets made up of luminous ropes braided spirally around each mats of the swimming pool of the Rhone. Each of the ropes is independent and suspended at 30 meters high, they will be the luminous notes animated by a succession of ignition and extinction, controlled with agility in a light interpretation inspired by Caprice n ° 24.
Between two Paganini, a more ethereal and contemplative musical atmosphere will be counterpoint and will allow to approach the work of a more peaceful bias.
